Don't they wrap around the bottle like the Eden serpent around the Tree of Knowledge? Tempting... Another interesting piece by War Design, awarded a Distinction at 2008 AGDA awards.

"Born out of the desire to do right by the planet, this year Pangea Organics has a great gift idea to let you in on the fun, too! After two years in development, Pangea just released a series of holiday gift boxes that actually grow Spruce Trees. Yes, that’s right. Just like their plantable packaging that grows organic, edible sweet basil, the box itself grows a tree. Just soak the box for a day, and plant it in the earth. If everyone plants their holiday gift box and bar soap box this year, collectively, we will have planted 122,000 trees which is equivalent to not driving 30 million miles in one year! Multiply that out by 75 years, the average lifespan of a Spruce, and that’s 2 billion, 250 millions that we’re collectively offsetting!"
Extremely innovative new packaging from Brandimage, who was responsible for everything including concept development, branding, prototyping, engineering, and product design. The 360 Paper Bottle is the first of its kind in the world, and a true environmentally-friendly solution to the problem of plastic water bottles:
CHALLENGE
Each day, Americans throw out 60 million plastic bottles. Only 14% actually get recycled—
meaning 86% become garbage or litter. We looked at this as a radical problem requiring an
equally radical solution. Could we design a container that would leverage sustainability, be
easy to transport, and enhance the consumer’s drinking experience?
SOLUTION
The 360 Paper Bottle is a sustainable vision of the future. It is the first totally recyclable
paper container made from 100% renewable resources. Versatile in its range of consumer
applications and made from food-safe and fully recyclable materials, it decreases energy
consumed throughout the product life cycle without sacrificing functionality. It is paper
packaging that stands up to all liquid categories.
Nice work Brandimage!
Tawaka "The Ball" is an unusual soap format where the soap is in a spherical shape. What's nice about the product is that it comes with a pretty wooden bowl and drain disc that fits inside, so the presentation is very pretty and spa-like. The product is made from cacao and Ojon oils, which is supposed to be very good for your skin (read more about it on their website and on Notcot.)
The packaging is quite interesting - especially from the inside.
Thanks to NOTCOT for the pictures, more after the jump!
In an attempt to simplify simple health issues (like a cut or a headache), Help Remedies has created friendly packaged remedies to attend to life's everyday boo-boos. The packaging is uncluttered and made from paper pulp, which is 100% compostable (unlike the many-layered full color packaging from mainstream pharma products.) I like the concept behind these, besides the packaging aesthetics, which are an instant sell for me. I think these would make a nice get-well gesture, too.
