The Dieline Reader Survey

The Dieline would like to ask for your help! Five to six minutes of your time to be exact, by filling out a brief survey about your online and offline preferences. Bee Raw

I'm just back from the HOW Design Conference in Boston, MA. It was a whirlwind of networking, design, talks and... exhaustion. But it was also insightful and inspiring. I brought back a few nuggets of design that I would like to share.

The first is Bee Raw Honey. The product, each made from a single variety of flower, is simple in it's essence. The design is equally simplistic, and does not detract from the color and light of the product itself. You can purchase jars, or adorable "test-tube" tasters. I would buy these just to have them grace my kitchen shelves.

The Dieline Challenge!

We are happy to announce our first ever contest! We are asking our readers to redesign what is formerly known as the IceBox. And, to top it off, we are giving the winner a trip to Norway where it is packaged! So put your skills to work! While anyone may enter, this contest if for intended for students who may not have the opportunity to design for a national brand. Who knows, you may end up with a trip to Norway and a fabulous addition to your portfolio! The top entries, as well as the winner will be featured here on The Dieline.

The Client? A national brand broadening distribution into the mass retail bottled water category.

The Project? You will be rebranding and redesigning the 5 Liter Bag‐In‐Box concept, formerly known as Icebox. A new name is needed that conveys an environmental message.

What do you need to do? Entrants are encouraged to be creative, and push the envelope. Simply redesign and rebrand the product however you see fit, and submit it to us by May 28th @ midnight.

The Prize: Winner will be awarded a trip for two to Norway, for 4 days and 5 nights, including accommodation in Oslo. The winning design will be featured on the Company’s product(s), currently sold through est/national retailers. The winning design will be launched at the Fancy Food Show in New York City, June 28‐July 2, 2008.

The competition is open!

The time has come to enter your packaging creations in Pentawards 2008, the only competition in the world dedicated exclusively to packaging design.

Registration is easy, on line at www.pentawards.org, and in 8 languages.

All you have to do is:

Upload up to 5 different visuals of each of your creations (in .jpg format; Minimum: 500 kB, Maximum: 1 MB)

Complete the registration form, Pay the entry fee with a credit card (Visa, Master Card) Euro 150 per creation in one of the 44 categories.

Euro 150 = (+/- US$ 235 or GBPounds 115 or Japanese Yen 23,500 or Brazilian Real 400 or Chinese Yuan 1650).

Only packaging created or placed on the market in 2007 is eligible to compete in the Pentawards 2008.

The competition is open from 1 May to 13 June 2008.

The award ceremony will be held on 30 October at Luxe Pack, Monaco (France)
