Bogoi

Bogoi

Designed by Jop Quirindongo, an Amsterdam based designer:

"The concept for Bogoi coffee is that on one side, people want to drink the best quality coffee there is. But coffee farmers often still get underpaid for the beans they deliver. Bogoi coffee will be biolocally grown & cropped by farmers who get an honest price for their beans. To put it simple: it's a balance between honesty and quality. Like left & right side, like the symmetry of a coffee bean itself. This was the initial idea for the packaging."

Student Spotlight: Marta Kohn

Marta Kohn sent in this wine and spirits project she did while at Savannah College of Art & Design (Adam Reynolds wrote the copy). Marta is now an associate designer at Target:

"Prohibition-inspired wine packaging From 1920 to 1933, the United States suffered its most damaging blow: Prohibition. The abrupt stoppage of sales, manufacturing, and transportation of alcohol angered many but enlightened others. 20•33 celebrates a man who was brave enough to confront the issues at hand while working in seclusion and utmost secrecy to keep spirits alive."

Bellatazza Cafe TO-GO Cups

More work from Buzzsaw Studios for Oregon based Bellatazza. "TO-GO cups for most cafes are just that, a simple TO-GO cup that is poorly desigend or plain with a rubber stamped name or logo. Bellatazza from day one more than 5 years ago has been using the TO-GO cup as a conversation piece. Every 3 months or so Buzzsaw Studios will design a new cup to replace the current one as they run out. Each design is themed with current events or a cause that the Owner is involved with. Patrons to the cafe have come to expect new cup art on a regular basis. economical form of branding, Bellatazza has received much more mileage than an traditional form of advertising or marketing. People don't expect to be drinking from a piece of art when they get their coffee beverage TO-GO."

Studio Spotlight: Firma

We featured Firma, a Russian design firm on the blog way back, over a year and a half ago. They have some new work, and I thought some of their past work deserves a second look:

Gotta Moo

Gotta Moo is the graduation work from recent graduate Narani Kannan, from OCAD (Ontario College of Art & Design). Here is a small rationale on her project:

Gotta Moo focuses on the most eco-friendly method for milk packaging. This greener milk packaging solution would be made out of Sugarcane Bagasse molded pulp paper, coated inside with sugarcane lignin and printed with vegetable based inks, all based on food safe materials. Bagasse is an annually renewable plant resource and is compostable and recyclable. This can replace plastic and plastic coated packaging, which is currently used in the food/beverage industry today. This packaging solution does not rely on oil extraction and it also minimizes green house gas emissions. This new molded pulp milk packaging solution could be an eco-friendly vision of the future.

Mallard Tearooms

A beautiful design by Sarah Walsh, a UK designer. I love the use of patterns to define the brand. Well done.

"Mallard is a specialist tea company which sells loose leaf tea through its shop and tearoom in Knutsford. The mix and match branding is inspired by the eclectic feel of the establishment which is quirky, eccentric and unmistakably English."
