32 year old J.P. Mastey has only been President of Baxter of California for six years, but his history with the company spans his entire life. Growing up in Los Angles, his father’s company was located in the same building as Baxter. As a kid J.P. would hang out in the Baxter offices, play with Baxter Finley’s dog and poke around the lotions and potions that made Baxter a household name starting in 1965.
Even when J.P. began working in the international men’s fashion market, he still kept in touch with Baxter and developed an appreciation of the products while traveling globally.
When Baxter Finley was finally ready to pass the baton, he knew exactly who to call to take over the reigns. Exhausted from constantly pushing other people’s brands, J.P. was more than happy to take over a line that he already knew like the back of his hand to call his own. After analyzing the market for several years, he decided the time was right for Baxter to have a re-birth with new packaging, products and marketing. Since launching in January 2007 the line has received numerous consumer and packaging design awards, validating the effort and strategy put into the re-launch.
Between running Baxter and surfing the latest blogs for inspiration, J.P. gets his kicks from amateur boxing and racing shifter karts.

Charrow is a designer and illustrator based out of Brooklyn, NY. Her background in design began as an undergraduate at Smith College where she majored in Art History and specialized in Spanish Baroque Art. She recently graduated from Portfolio Center where she studied design and illustration. She currently works at Joe's The Art of Coffee and freelances as an illustrator and designer.
Maja currently lives and works in Krakow, the "cultural capital of Poland", and is Art Director for Kameleon Design Studio. Her journey toward discovering design was, in the words of her favorite band, "a long and winding road". Graduating from the institute of Journalism and Social Communication at Jagiellonian University and writing her Master's Thesis in Advertising and Public Relations, she finally chose to follow her instincts and pursue a career in design. As a specialist in prepress and various print technologies within the FMCG industry, Maja's understanding of packaging goes beyond the actual design. Die cuts, substrates and types of varnish and paper can have as much of an effect on the final outcome as the concept of the design itself. Having studied various aspects of communication, she never underestimates its importance in her work. Maja strongly believes that design must always communicate a narrative – not about the designers, but about the product they were chosen to present. After work, Maja hits the road as a backpacker. Some of her travel stories can be found on www.majapelc.pl.

Rachel Dunagan is a Southern girl trying to acclimate to the brutal winters of the midwest. A former journalist, she went back to school to get a degree in design after she discovered she was more interested in the layout of the paper than the stories. Plus, she had to figure out some way to feed her voracious appetite for package design--especially personal care products. She is currently a freelance designer in Minneapolis and is, therefore, available to make your stuff look awesome. To view more of her work, visit www.racheldunagan.com.
