Starting June 11, Nespresso Canada and the Canada Post are helping Nespresso coffee drinkers take care of the planet, at no additional cost to them with Red Bag recycling.
With every purchase of Nespresso’s aluminum capsules, a Red Bag allows consumers to return them to a Canada Post mailbox in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and all of Atlantic Canada for free.
From there, the aluminum capsules undergo a process that essentially splits the coffee grounds from the containers. According to a newswire, “the aluminum, an infinitely recyclable material, is repurposed and the coffee grounds are transformed into quality compost, used by farms. The recycling process is entirely supported and paid for by Nespresso at no extra cost to consumers.”
The Red Bag program isn’t the only step Nespresso is taking towards ensuring its products are properly disposed of. Throughout Vancouver, Anmore, Coquitlam in British Columbia and portions of Quebec, Nespresso launched a Green Bag program allowing consumers to place their capsules in a green bag to be recycled at the curb.

Nespresso Canada is slaying the recycling game with its new programs and has set a new goal to cover every municipality in the country to ensure it stays that way.
