Sound Bites Could Potentially Be the Future of Food

Published

Kouki & Co has designed this unique packaging for Sound Bites, a conceptual company that would specialize in sonically infused food.

“Research from Oxford University suggests that sound influences the taste of food. They call this sonically enhanced food – where a consumer is surrounded by certain sounds while eating.

As technology advances each day more and more swiftly, so does the pressure to create something new and unique. With the rise of Cronuts, Freakshakes and Unicorn Frappuccinos, how far will we go to create the next food fad?”

“This concept is set in a futuristic world where food is INFUSED with sound. The concept delivers packaging design on a range of food items that were produced in specific sound environments. The variation of sound environments have given the food items distinct flavours.

The outcome is two ranges of Sonically Infused Food.

1. Food infused with instrumental music
a. Brass instruments range – Flavours are rich and bold
b. Keys instruments range – Flavours are sharp and sweet
c. Strings instruments range – Flavours are soft and smooth

2. Food infused with natural sound environments
a. Ocean range – Flavours and fresh and salty
b. Woodland range – Flavours are raw and rustic
c. Desert range – Flavours are warm and dry

The design is playful and has momentum giving a feeling of visual sound. The packaging design is deconstructed and futuristic.”
