This is not your typical table salt. Wunsch designed the elegant branding and packaging for Mariager Sydesalt, a new line of natural sea salt. Overall the design reflects the premium quality of the product by elevating it.

“Mariager Sydesalt / Seething Salt is derived from 250 million-year-old sea salt deposits found in a subterranean salt diapir in Jutland, Denmark. The salt is seethed by hand using methods dating back to the Middle Ages: the salt brine is poured into open iron pans and then heated over an open flame. As the water evaporates, salt crystals form on the surface. The salt is an all-natural product packed with minerals.”

“Wunsch developed a complete identity for the brand, including logo, communication and a comprehensive packaging line consisting of products destined for the retail and specialist shop markets in Denmark and Germany, respectively. The design is inspired by the black, wooden seething cabins, where the manufacturing process takes place. Out of the dark surroundings, the white salt emerges slowly during the seething proces, which is illustrated by the black cardboard tubs with the white content.

Part of the salt production is mixed with herbs, bringing the assortment to 20 different salts.”
