Founded in 2011, Barber & Co is a union of full-service barbershops and grooming supplies line for the modern man based out of Vancouver, Canada. Late last year before the renowned Vancouver design studio Also Known As went into retirement they worked on one last project as a collaboration with the creatives at Barber & Co. Together an elevated and modernized brand was furnished along with an overhauled packaging design for the handmade grooming supplies.
Steeped in a combined six generations of honest tradition, the five Vancouver shops offer sharp expertise in the craft of barbering artfully blended with the comforts of a social club.
The grooming supplies are a modern interpretation of those traditional sensibilities made by barbers out of an Academy + Lab space in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighborhood. The products are crafted by hand using sustainable practices and natural ingredients whenever possible. They are paraben and sulfate free. Each product is developed in the lab and rigorously tested in the shops by barbers before going to market.
The packaging design is bold and modern while maintaining some traditional elements which is a reflection of the way each barbershop is designed individually to suit its own neighborhood. Simple geometric patterns embody some of the technical motions a barber makes as well as traditional patterns found in the foot pedals of vintage barber chairs.
