Oleos Sunflower Oil

It’s easy to forget that sunflower oil isn’t just another way to cook up some of your favorite foods—it’s actually derived from nature. Glad Head designed the packaging for Oleos to remind us of just that, featuring lovely illustrations on the label.

“When designing the label for the exported sunflower oil, we were facing a challenge to depict the naturalness of the product, and to imply the geography of production without using any trite symbols. For the label we created a light watercolour illustration with a rooster and a rabbit settled in the reeds, heads of garlic and beans scattered all over, and a fish swimming by. The use of these surprising symbols, along with the traditional ones, made the imagery more emotional and vivider. We thank illustrator Maria Ruban for cooperation.”

A clear bottle and yellow cap brings attention to the sunny hue of the oil inside. Mesmerizing lines on the bottle create a droplet shape on the front which could be viewed as a drop of oil or even as a sunflower seed. A simple sans serif font allows the bright, beautiful illustrations to shine.
