Caragh Chocolate is a real life island story. For over 20 years, Caragh Chocolates has been based on Sark, the smallest of the Channel Islands. Sark is a quaint and enchanting place—no cars are allowed, so people primarily travel by bike or even horse and carriage. Distil Studio has designed the packaging for Caragh Chocolates, celebrating the island of Sark where these delectable treats are made.

“From day one, our aim was to celebrate the story of this wonderful chocolate business and its unique location. The final work reveals Sark’s many gems, from its status as the world’s first ‘Dark Sky Island’ to its breathtaking vistas and secret bays. Even the usual chocolate selection card takes the form of a folded map, allowing people to discover their favourite from a range of six different boxes.”

A horse pulling a carriage that has large gifts set upon it is instantly recognizable across all iterations of the packaging. This image not only honors the island of Sark but gives the consumer a sense that their chocolates are a gift, making the opening experience even more special.

“To get the island community fully on-board, we commissioned photographer Michael Feather to capture a series of islander portraits. The chocolates are incredibly good so we had no shortage of volunteers, from the local fishermen enjoying Sea Salted Caramels to the island fire brigade braving the Chilli Chocolate bars.”
