The packaging for specialty and limited edition releases of Absolut products never ceases to impress – the bottles act as a perfect canvas that can morph and blend perfectly with its latest offering. Absolut Botanik is another prime example of this. Immediately recognizable under the brand name, and yet it seems like an entirely new product that we’ve never seen before. This drink, designed by Boldinc, is Absolut’s single sourced vodka with muddled Scandinavian berries with “a twist of Swedish quirk.”

“Sales of ‘Ready to drink’ white spirits have long been declining, mostly at the hands of cider and craft beer and their simple crafted offers. Pernod Ricard approached Boldinc to reset the balance. Consumers want more than sugary alco-pops, searching out simpler, more natural products and brands with character, stories and soul. Enter Absolut Botanik – lingonberries, cloudberries and blueberries from the Scandinavian countryside mixed with single sourced Absolut vodka, So good, the animals want their berries back…”

The stylized drawings feel like they’ve come straight from an artist’s notebook after spending days observing the wild. Splashes of watercolor paint breathe life into the black and white label which feels appropriately frosty and chilled. Absolut Botanik appeals to those looking for a more flavorful cocktail experience with the pure ingredients that many consumers seek.

“Drawing on the botanist’s traditional pen and ink illustrations, strong crafted pen and ink illustration are combined with the playfulness of watercolour to create an unexpected storytelling experience that is brought to life on packaging and beyond.”
