The Seaweed Bath Co.

Published

The Seaweed Bath Co.’s design seems inspired by vintage postcards you might pick up at the beach boardwalk. With gently faded hues and beautifully opposing fonts, the brand captures the perfect beach day in a bottle. Make and Matter worked with the Austin, Texas-based company to create their new packaging system.

“The Seaweed Bath Co. is a line of all natural bath products that use sustainable, hand-harvested bladderwrack seaweed from the coasts of Maine. The design of the line has a sense of nostalgia to it. The design is reminiscent of salty air, sandy beaches and of course the hero ingredient, seaweed. Different seaside scenes are used to delineate various product lines, while color tabs designate the different scents. Textures and subtle imperfections give the product line a hand crafted, approachable vibe.”

The Seaweed Bath Co. includes body washes and powder baths in lavender, citrus, eucalyptus and peppermint, and unscented. Each variety has its own coordinating color that stands out from the beach scene behind it. Background images have lovely blues and greens — aquamarine, turquoise, aqua, cyan, and azure. The colors blend together perfectly like a watercolor painting.

On the back of the packaging, small icons show some of other vital ingredients, like coconut oil, for example. They smartly advertise all of their their “wildly natural” ingredients along with the positive feelings from a sunny beach day. This leads consumers to associate the emotions they have after a day by the sea (as well as the benefits of the pure ingredients) with the product, tempting them to dive in for more beautiful skin.
