Neenah Paper continues to "explore" how uncoated paper colors and textures can be used creatively, for frequently specified short-run digital applications. EXPLORE 2 is the second promotion in this series that showcases these explorations with samples geared towards practical uses in an urban environment.

The Dieline featured EXPLORE 1

Farmhouse Design was commissioned by Neenah to create a digital print sample portfolio that would make it easier for designers and printers to be more creative, productive and efficient by suggesting digital print techniques and sharing production specifications and dielines for digital print possibilities.

The samples were printed using a variety of digital presses, including the HP Indigo® 7000, the Xerox iGen 4™, the Konica Minolta Biz Hub Pro, and the Kodak NexPress®, showing a range of capabilities.

THE FOLDERThe finish size of this little folder may be small -- but it is packed with idea after idea – starting with digital printing on sparkly Stardream®. The combination wrap-flap is Classic Crest® Solar White Stipple Finish – glued on the back and with a Velcro-style closure on the front. (Technically, this is a product from 3M). Nice idea to combine two pieces to “extend” the size of the print form.

VERTICAL NOTE PAD & BOOKMARKWe love this idea starter because it’s something that can be used by many clients for a wide variety of brand uses where functionality is a bonus. This is a little vertical notepad with a self-cover (Astrobrights® Terra Green), lined with meeting notes (Environment® PC 100 Natural). Perfect for a club or association meeting, an annual sales meeting, a hand out for journalists. Bookmark shows 4 color process over two hits of opaque white (on Classic® Laid, Canyon Brown).

FOLDER/TICKET/TAGThere are so many ways this combination of three simple pieces, a folder, a ticket, and a tag could be used. Designed as a local initiative promo piece to raise awareness for an event, this format could also be used for a cool invitation? A series of product brochures? A meeting handout? A meeting agenda? A thank you card? Don’t miss the scratch off on the back of the insert printed with Great Western Scratch Off Gold, 131 on Classic Crest, Natural White.

DIRECT MAILHigh-end direct mail digitally printed? Yes. Here, the tri-fold example is printed four-color process and two hits of opaque white (Classic® Linen, Red Pepper) to achieve unique layering effects, with a die-cut insert (Classic Columns®, Epic Black). This is where digital shines for small runs. In this iteration, the insert card is a business card; reimagine it for your application as a backstage pass, a season schedule, or a promo card for the first show of the season.

BROCHUREA simple saddle-stitched brochure need not be boring, and need not be white. Digital printing actually makes it easier with short runs to create more personality and variety within one piece. This brochure combines three remarkably different papers in three different stepped sizes providing a backdrop for three very distinct personas in one single brochure. Would we have imagined this without digital printing? Push the limits for appropriate industries and mix and match colors, textures and angles.

PACKAGINGNow here’s a thought: Encourage active participation and interest in an offer or announcement for a client with clever, ready to assemble packaging. Accompanied by a small surprise inside, the tool becomes interactive. We just love this idea.

POSTER/MAPA simple, beautiful poster with the dual benefit of being a map. We folded it down to fit in the brochure, but can’t you see it in a store window? This stock is Paper Tyger®, great for maps or guides because it’s water and tear resistant. And – you can write on it!
