In the spirit of this month’s theme at the Dieline, Tools, Technology, and Trends, check out LiquiGlide. LiquiGlide is an extremely innovative new technology. It is a permanently wet surface coating for consumer products. In other words, this is the end to slapping the Ketchup bottle or scraping the bottom of the mustard jar. LiquiGlide is a coating that lets the contents of any container slide out easily.

Hallelujah!

How do they do it, you ask? Their coatings combine a textured solid and a liquid that is held in place by strong capillary forces. Each coating is custom-designed to meet the needs of a specific application.

LiquiGlide was invented by Kripa Varanasi, associate professor of mechanical engineering at MIT, and Dave Smith, a former MIT Ph.D. student who founded LiquiGlide, Inc. and serves as the company’s CEO.
