Liquid Agency simplifies HP Chromebook's packaging as a seamless white form. Its minimal aesthetic along with an accent color label truly triumphs any other computer packaging out in the market. No long blocks of text about how the computer functions, etc. Just plug in and go. You know a design is successful when you refuse to dispose of the packaging. The box is so gorgeous, it's hard not to want to reuse it for something else.
"The HP Chromebook is an ultra-minimalist and super affordable device designed to make it possible for more people to access to the internet. Along with our client we agreed that the packaging solution should echo the qualities of the product, focusing on simplicity and minimalism. Specifically, we wanted to do less, not more.
The inspiration for the final package came from a humble take-out box that is perfectly functional while also being compostable. Liquid worked closely with the client's structural packaging designers and started an experimental design process that required both diligence and risk—and ultimately led to an innovative new packaging solution.
The deceptively simple-looking box had to meet high standards for shipping at various temperatures and required multiple rounds of testing for structuralintegrity. The process even required making new machines that could create the box’s unique shape and density. It was not easy to meet all the packaging requirements, but our client was committed to doing something extraordinary. And—by working as a team—we created a box that is minimalist not only in terms of aesthetics but also in terms of its environmental impact."
