T-Square Design Associates from Tokyo, Japan has developed a new package design for a well-known rice brand, Nanatsuboshi, which translates to seven stars. Generally, rice bag design is traditional, using calligraphy and imagery of rice fields.
T-Square’s main goal was to design these bags in a completely new style while still communicated the brand values: passion mixed with meticulous discipline. The solution was to create a graphic symbol that represents how Nanatsuboshi rice was uniquely developed by crossbreeding three different types of rice. They used a vibrant but limited color palette, clean lines, and sharp flat iconography. They created something new yet distinctly Japanese. It is a fresh design on a product and brand steeped in centuries of tradition.
