Carlotta is inspired by French influences that were historical in Mexico during President Porfirio Diaz, and similarly named the “El Porfiriato” period. The design created by Anagrama, is for a bakery that prepares traditional Mexican style pastries and cakes such as conches and buñuelos. The design incorporates an elegance with the floral patterns and laid out with-in black frames, creating a structural layout design that is consistent throughout. The custom typography ties the entire branding and design together.
“Our brand proposal adopts graphic styles from Mexico during “El Porfiriato”, a historical period in which the country was under the control of president Porfirio Diaz, a man heavily influenced by French customs, art and architecture. We used official documents from that era as main visual references to redesign those classic typographic styles.”
