Student Spotlight: Gravity Wine

Pathill92911

"I wanted to go beyond a simple label for the bottle and create something that had a more tactile aspect to it so I decided to use paint in conjunction with a label as a way to achieve this."

"I've had some experience brewing beer so I was familiar with the concept of gravity in relation to alcohol content in wine, beer, etc. and thought that this gave me a perfect tie in to the paint. This idea became the jumping off point for developing the logo and style of paint drips. I had to experiment with many different bottles and paints to get this end result uses white ceiling paint and non-tapered, dark bottles."

These wine bottles were designed by Patrick Hill, a student in the Communication Art & Design program at the University of Louisville.

Nice job, Patrick! Would this be all screen-printed on the bottle or is that an additional "band" with the label? Love it either way. Just curious.

Thanks, it's an additional band that was printed and applied after the painting process.
