Student Spotlight: Black Market Goods

Beer 1

The project was to create a promotional beer packaging piece for a fictitious brewing company called, Black Market Goods.

Because of the company name, the bottles were created to resemble illegal weapons sold in the black market. Each bottle took about 10 hrs to create due to the long drying times of the primer paint used for the body. Shiny yellow engine enamel was used on the removable fins, cap and on the base of the bottle to offset the matte color of the primer.

Finally, a wooden box with a bracing system was designed and constructed to hold the bottles in place during transportation.

Thank you to Marco Manansala for submitting this project to us.

I like the idea but I your cost on packaging would pretty pretty high.

Yes, packaging costs would be insane and I wouldn't fancy firstly paying for such packaging and then lugging that back from the shop in my bag for life. Pretty but highly impractical.

Perhaps could be marketed as a 'gift' mainly I feel.

This is probably the best idea for bottle I've ever seen! I really love this and would definitely buy one...

Love the concept and execution!. Figure out how to get six of these in an ammo box looking cardboard carrier and beer connoisseurs will buy it - especially if the beer tastes good. As a beer drinker and militaria buff, I'd be one of the first in line...

Excelente idea, no creo que sea impracticable, la caja se puede hacer en cartón corrugado y un poco más chica, así el costo no será elevado. Claro que se puede hacer!! Felicidades! Congratulations!!

Glad you guys enjoyed the packaging. I'm a very idea and concept driven designer. I do plan on creating a much more practical box made of cardboard in the near future. Visit my website at www.marcojohndesign.com for updates and to see my other work. Thanks again!
