Untitled-1.jpg

"Brand selected: Geo Organics - beans

Concept: Try an reflect the honesty of the organic brand and product through innovative packaging and a new logo: Bean Bags

Prototype: Made from show curtain, sealed with hair straighteners and then screen printed."

Thank you to Freddy Taylor for submitting his project.

I like the hand-drawn effect, but I think it is important for students (and designers) to understand their products. The "Green Bean" bag is misleading. Lima Beans are not the same as Green Beans.

I really like the idea -- the only thing that bothers me is the 'O' -- looks like a bum, or breast cleavage haha! Otherwise, lovely use of font and /lack of/ added colours!

Some fantastic work here and the fact it's designed by a student makes it all the more impressive. Given that there a prototype I think they are far from misleading and the designer is simply trying to communicate his/her concept.

although I appreciate the bravery of this smart "eco" approach, personally I wouldn't touch this thing with a ten-feet pole if I saw it on a supermarket shelf. I just imagine it exploding in my bag on the way home...

Nice design but disgusting visual impact. A poke-bag

you have to think like a consumer. nice try, but i think it would be sales fail. product looks unappealing.

I personally think they make the product look great!! So many little kids would be begging their parents to buy them for the fun factor of the novelty packaging. It also exemplifies the idea of this being no-frills food... no need to disguise the products behind crazy amounts of tin/paper packaging! Grand stuff.

Yep, gotta think like a consumer. How would I open that without it exploding all over my counter? How would I safely pour the contents? It LOOKS cool but it also looks sort of disgusting and it also looks like too much work to get it home and then actually enjoy the contents.

couldn't really disagree more with some of the above comments. I think perhaps you are a little short sighted. He/she is providing us with a contemporary alternative to the tin. I've never really seen baked beans look so appealing! V. nice

Like this no nonsense packaging – uses the visual impact of the products to sell themselves. These guys would definitely stand out on the shelves and reckon they look great! And although this packaging solution is a unique one, packets and bags have been seen before by consumers and so think it would be fairly easy to open and use without causing a mess.

What I see in a lot of student work here is that the young designers want to do away with the trappings of marketing altogether; and the brand itself, to some degree. There's such a thirst for authenticity that I often see student design that's so painfully literal: HERE IS A BAG OF BEANS. I understand the drive for transparency, but most people still want to know: Why this bag of beans, and not that one? Positioning is still necessary in a saturated market.
