Further

"Further products are derived from vegetable oil salvaged from some of LA's finest restaurants (Mario Batali is one of their restaurant partners). The re-purposed grease is purified and made into soap, lotion and candles. It is a simple, beautiful, and sustainable model."

"In creating the design for the logo and packaging, we wanted to honor the made-in-the-garage, grassroots spirit from where this company began, but we recognized the need to elevate it so that customers would recognize the quality of the product and want to use them.

The packaging is fine: nice and simple and unpretentious, but I can't help feeling that it's a little late for an April Fool's joke.

I have no objection to using recycled fats from the restaurant industry for soap and candles, but someone is actually marketing a recycled oil product -because- it is garbage from the rich and famous. Really?! People are apparently even more pathetic than I already thought!

I agree with C. If only they didn't mention which restaurants the oil comes from, it would work a lot better. At least it wouldn't seem so condescending.

The candles look great, by the way. I'm not too fond of the pump bottles, but it's more a matter of preference.

I think the point of listing the connection to chefs like Batali is less about the "rich and famous" and more about working with those that are sourcing locally, working with conscientious growers and butchers, and generally going full circle. And I suppose it can't hurt in countering the potential "ick" factor for anyone not keen on repurposed restaurant grease.

i love it! get over yourselves, jason and C... everyone needs a little boost and brand recognition, be it a start up, Batali or Kermit.... it's the way the market works and anyone who has ever started a company, in particular a consumer good, knows that these little connections are just a nice pat on the back that helps keep you going through the grind of trying to keep the company afloat.

I think the packaging is great... simple, easy, placeable anywhere... good job!
