Student Spotlight: Lady of the Dead

12 09 11 lady4

"Lady of the Dead is a new kooky and cheeky speciality salsa company themed around Mexico’s Day Of The Dead Festival. An authentic but modern interpretation of the festival was created through bright and discordant colour, quirky paper cut illustration, organic textures, whimsical hand-drawn typography and amusing brand language, diverging from the expected cliched Mexican visual language which commercial salsa branding is heavily reliant on. The jar has minimal graphics because after the salsa is eaten, the jar is transformed into a hanging lantern. This draws on an important aspect of the festival and creates a second use for the jar, a sustainable, easy to make and unique aspect to the brand."
