Danube

Deriving its name from the Danube river, Danube is an energy drink designed by Hungarian designer, László Sándor.

"The typography is 100% custom made and the orange color refers to the energy, the brown of the caffeine."

looks interesting but 100% illegible

Nice design...but for an energy drink?

This will look great on premium coffee. The orange is too muted to be associated with energy, as is the brown for caffeine. The design looks very laid back and doesn't suggest energy at all.

This design, color scheme wise especially, seems more appropriate for a product such as an iced coffee drink or something along those lines. Also consumers although prone to buying without much thought or consideration still like to know the name or be able to read the name of the product they're buying.

I really admire this exciting typographical treatment. I marvel at designers who can envision and create custom typography that uses the same character elements to create an entire word with little or no change and remain legible! To me it is genius.

@ Bari:
Legibility is subjective, it seems. ;)

As for me, I agree with bob. If it weren't for the title or the brief, I wouldn't know the typography spells Danube. I'd be interested in seeing a complete treatment for the whole alphabet, though, just as I'm interested in looking at glyphs. :)

Thanks for the comments!
The typeface can view the entire portfolio.

I wish an energy drink company would finally make a different shaped can and stop just copying the Redbull shape

Let me first just say how much I appreciate good custom typefaces for logos, etc. I also really enjoy the tone-on-tone pattern that the logo is used to create on the can itself.

However, I have seen this type of typeface so many places, even in a "how to make a cool logo" tutorial, as found here: http://abduzeedo.com/creating-crazy-cool-logo. I just feel that this style of typefaces (base it entirely off of a circle) can tend to be overused. That's my one main critique of this design.

Hi Ben!
Glad you like the character, but the basic shape of a circle
and will never go out of fashion. Did you know? :)
