Before & After: Samba

1

Samba is a well known Egyptian snack and dessert brand, that has just received a makeover. Check out the new and old after the jump.

“Samba is a well known brand in the Egyptian snacks/dessert market since 1990. The Client asked for a new packaging, more energetic, colorful and vibrant. To come up with that final artwork we challenged ourselves to come up with an original piece of artwork that is trendy as well. We had our inspiration for the artist Adhemas Batist. We gave a lot of input in that project and the end result where really rewarding to us.”

I love the logo, vast improvement. But I feel like it should be bigger on the package.

Awesome. The old design was just sort of aimless. Sorta nice looking but with no focus, no intent, no purpose. The new one is much better. The patterns in the background don't seem as though they're just there to look nice - they have purpose, they point at the product and draw attention to it. "Yes, you want to eat this. I'll show you what it looks like," is what the packaging says to me, "oh, and by the way, my name is 'Samba'".

I agree with you Jeff, but that was done to follow the brief visual priority.

Thanks Jordan, I like your last phrase "oh, and by the way, my name is 'Samba'".

I took a look at Adhemar Batista's work. He is, by the way, a designer as well.

It got me thinking: is it inspiration or a copy?

Not sure...
