Yummy Tummy Koalas

 1

Landor Sydney created a new brand of koala-shaped mud cakes that comes with a range of stickers, called Yummy Tummy Koalas. Check out this cute packaging below.

"Context

The client approached us with a product idea and asked us to create a sub-brand that would be thoroughly distinct from any other brand in the supermarket. The brief was simple, to create a sub-brand that had character and personality, capitalising on the koala product format, from the box right through to the rewind, with a level of interaction for kids.

Relevence

Top Taste identified a truly differentiated, single serve, individually wrapped, product format that would be difficult to replicate by private label and competitors. The creative team were excited and inspired by a truly differentiated product concept.

Difference

The result? A fun, playful, evocative brand with a refreshing identity, loaded with personality. We extended the idea of the characters to every face of the packaging through a fun and cheeky visual style, influencing the brand beyond packaging and creating a new dimension to bring the characters Kevin, Bruce and Cath to life."

Cute package and illustration. But the whole computer styled info panel doesn't seem to fit with the look of the rest of the package.

Also it may have been cute to die cut the stomach of the bear illustration on the front so the belly of the cake bear inside stuck out a little bit from the box.

I brought this product because of the packaging when I saw it in my local Coles. It's got great shelf stand out, and a really engaging story for each character. The perf opening on the front of the pack is the only thing I would change - you end up cutting the character in two which is a shame. Otherwise a great design.

I agree that the computer styled info seems to "clash".

Looks a lot like the Caveman Cookies packaging designed by Kristina Sacci - http://www.cavemencookies.com/collections/buy-some-cookies

I noticed these cute packaging for sometime but I never bought them because they don't show actual product anywhere in the packaging. Thanks for the pics of the actual cake above, I might go and get them tomorrow.

I'll admit I bought 2 boxes of these as soon as I saw them because of the design, but when I actually opened them to try, and this is something that rarely gets discussed here, but they tasted really subpar—too sweet and not at all nice, cheap no-brand brownies tasted much better... or of course you can bake your own, nothing should beat that!
