Babees Honey

F3daf7b8f67debabed76a5aec4bdb18b

Wonderfully clean aesthetic from Polish design studio, Ah&Oh for Babees Honey. Naming, branding, and packaging was all created in the studio. Check it out after the jump.

"A
simple and little idea of packing for honey. We tried to treat jar as a
playground for a character design. Dark cap and stripes made the idea
quite clear. Through this project we tried to encourage kids to reach
for honey instead of refined sugar. Especially for them we create logo
which smiles bee’s face. It’s hand calligraphed, custom made, and it
softens the overall simple, geometric look of the packaging."

Interesting name choice since it is widely advised that infants under the age of one should not be given honey due to the risk of botulism caused by under-developed digestive systems. I understand trying to reach the kids, but the name just doesn't fit for me since babies shouldn't have babees.

Not sure how kids will be able to read the type on this (which to me looks a mess)

Plus the stripes just stop with a large gap, looks unfinished...

Though I guess as it's just an idea and not an actual life project the details don't matter?

Another student / self initiated style project. boring.

The babees name may not be appropriate, but the design concept is beautifully simple. What's not to like? I love the stripes on the jar, which, paired with the black lid and hang tag (which looks like wings), hint at the contents of the jar.

The logo mimics the meandering path of a bumble bee. It's brilliant, and I think it would have the same effect even without the small bee at the end of the "path."

I like the design. But, uh... in the second to last photo, is it really supposed to say "Rape Honey"?

I don't think this is a student project. But I agree with Todd; it is simple and beautiful. Even the small detail in the shape of the jar are just wonderful!

Student / self initiated... same thing. it's not 'live' with a client. I agree it is a nice idea but not thought through.

yeh rape honey is honey made from the pollen of the rape seed plant...

Dan, this is not honey for kids

Great idea and execution. It's not boring since we in Poland desperately lack such clean and simple design, especially in foods. Even though it's student idea, it's till quite captivating and fresh in category. Would imagine this on the shelves of upper market grocery store.

I had the same reaction...liked the design except that one word, it ruined it for me
I think it is absolutely wonderful!

How is this boring?! It is clean, simple, elegant and sweet - exactly like honey! The logo is adorable, and noticing the little bee at the end brought a smile (albeit small) to my mind. This packaging would certainly have convinced me into purchase - which throws the "it is not a live product" argument out the window in my eyes...

Well done!

(BTW, just because it is designed with kids in mind does not mean it was designed FOR kids. And whether or not the "rape" is off-putting is irrelevant - As a Polish studio their primary audience is probably Polish too, so they should at least be granted the benefit of the doubt )

Absolutely gorgeous in it's simplicity of communication - you get honey a mile a way and when you do it puts a smile in your face. graphically is shelf stopping...and totally sticky to the hand! come'n..would you not all pick this up in a heartbeat? and finally totally counter worthy! would make anyone's coffee table look fantastic and smart.. could potentially turn a sugar eater into a honey user, not bad.

I think mentioning the idea of making it appealing to 'kids' is not fully getting it's potential.

Honey sells honey, not package. But this looks like a fun idea, like a big bee behind.
