Student Spotlight: Oatrageous!

1

A new project by student José Luis García Eguiguren. Beautiful work, take a look after the jump, and be sure to share your feedback on his design.

"The object of this project was to create a new image for an oatmeal in order to better position it in a market for women ages (25-35). Building on the "healthy and delicious" appeal of oatmeal, I utilized images to visually depict the ingredients: milk, fruit and oatmeal. The slight curve in the cup is not only more ergonomic but it also insinuates a thinning waistline. The tin foil covering the top of the cup will differentiate each flavor as each fruit is represented by a different color. "

Really awesome design Jose! I mean seriously awesome. Can you please explain the visual on the front a little more? I understand the stuff stacked on each other: sugar cube on milk on oats on cinnamon, but what's with the string?

Awesome work especially for a student!!! very professional!!the only two comments I have are:1. I am a fan of minimal design but I think the logo could be a little larger (could be just personal preference)2. On the side the flavour name could be added (small) as the graphic alone may not be enough to suggest the flavour to some consumers.Apart from those.. really great design/name

Very Nice, I love the simplicity and cleanliness of this design. My only critique would be to make the flavor name stand out more. At first glance, I couldn't tell what was in the stacks, then notice it was on the lid. Seeing these on shelf, the top of yogurt is the last thing you see, either because it is above eye level, or they are stacked too high, up to the bottom of the next shelve. A small flavor call out on the front would help this design improve a lot.

Beautiful work! I agree with the stronger branding. Quaker is a trusted brand. I also agree with the other comments that the flavor needs to be on the front panel too.

I love the shape of the container and it's slimming suggestion. It's really elegant. I'm torn with the image of the ingredients on the front. On one hand you've created a stack of ingredients that looks like a frumpy person (which contradicts the slimming shape of the container). On the other hand the stack of the ingredients is very appetizing, hearty and yummy looking.

I think the package would be just as successful without the "trickiness" of the ingredient-person.

Simply beautiful! The renderings are very impressive. I can't stop looking at this project!

I initially thought that the Quaker brand should be larger, but after repeated viewings I think it's fine but the "Oatrageous!" branding could use some improvement. It just doesn't stand out enough when surrounded by all of the other elements (both the top and side panels). Although the curvy font matches the illustration well, it just doesn't have enough impact to stand out.

I also love the shape of the container, but I wonder how it will turn out in a manufacturing environment. Anyone with vacuum form molding experience care to comment?

congratulations alex on the dieline award amazing work....
thank you everybody for your comments i really appreciate them....
i will be putting on my blog a more extensive description in english and espanish this month so you will a little detali info. thank you for you coment
for the renders i use only photoshop and illustrator. there is no 3d program it all.
Nice work, minimal, readable and all.

Unfortunately, these kind of shapes is not doable at reasonable costs in vacuum-molding. Neither in injection (would need an articulated core, really expensive and lengthening the cycle)

On the production side, it looks like the cardboard has a flat fold on top and is glued near the bottom to give it a curved shape : this could be really expensive too. Probably too much for the brand level of premiumness.

Keep the good work !

I wish this was on the shelves. It is beautiful, desirable, practical, and I can only hope YUMMMMMM!

Student work or not, I actually want this.

Generally it signifies and completes the "healthier" choice. Oat+apples+berries+jumprope/exercise= healthy!

wow, this is stunning
