"The bottle of men's fragrance for Dior, realized with using of semi-burned wood, covered with resin to protect and to boost structure.

The combination between the texture of burned wood, shinny metal and transparency of the glass create very rich and unexpectable mix, which underline the value and positioning of the brand.

the back side of the bottle is transparent which helps to check the rest quantity of a perfume."

How does charred wood enhance the Dior brand? Does the product inside smell like charred wood?

Is there a purpose to this nonsense? It would be great for a one-off or limited edition signature line, but could never be achieved in reality. In production, every single item rolling off the line needs to be identical in order to meet with quality control. I agree with the description it's certainly "unexpectable" (sic).

The bottle structure is quite confusing; how should I hold and apply? I am still figuring it out (sigh). Is there a metaphor for using burn wood other than decorative purpose; it is utter waste of resources.

Why would you want something that looks like it just survived your house burning down? You could always sketch out more concepts with it after you finish the product inside.

Personally I think it's beautiful. I like the combination of natural elements, metal and glass and the colour/texture is masculine. I gave it 5.

I just wonder what would Marten Bass say...This concept naturally belongs to him. Have a look at http://www.maartenbaas.com/ project ``smoke``. Seems like Dior haven`t done enough research, who would like to copy the design from 2004?

The bottle itself is too literal, not subtle at all as a concept. Still, bravo for the technique.

Maarten Baas, sorry for the misprint..

um terunobu fujimori, a japanese architect, has been using this technique for years and years for siding on structures. I would be hesitant to Maarten Baas "owns" this idea. check yourself.
