Water Bobble

Waterbobble01

My environmentally conscious friend Angie recently told me about the water bobble. Designed by Karim Rashid and produced by Move Collective LLC, the water bobble is "a stylish, patented water bottle that filters water as you drink."

Bobble's ingenious design removes chlorine and organic contaminants from municipal tap water. In doing so, bobble replicates the experience of drinking crisp, clean portable water without incurring the significant costs -- environmental and monetary -- associate with plastic water bottles.

It's a reusable bottle, and the filter only needs to be changed every 2 months or 40 gallons (150 liters). According to their calculations, that means one bobble filter is worth about 300 bottles of water.

I haven't used the product myself, but I think the design work (identity, package, web) is fantastic. See additional after the jump.

Unfortunately it's another design gimmick that misses the mark on delivering healthy water. It basically transforms tap water into bottled water quality, and by now it's common knowledge that purified water alone, without minerals, electrolytes or flow structure, is sterile and dead. Read the WHO study on the danger of only drinking demineralized water. http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/dwq/nutdemineralized.pdf Water needs to be cured to be both functional and live, and then it can optionally be transferred into a pretty bottle.

The Bobble filters dead water into filtered dead water. That's the extent of it.

It basically transforms tap water into bottled water quality, and by now it’s common knowledge that purified water alone, without minerals, electrolytes or flow structure, is sterile and dead.” (MG)Sorry Mr. Grady, but I believe you hit it right on the button! American Consumers would rather spend 10 bucks on 300 refills that are “bottled water quality”. As opposed to spending over $300 on three hundred separate bottles of water, while filling up more than 10 trash bags in the process. Design gimmick? I think not! Give the american consumers a break, and go terrorize the French culture with your so called, “Lively” water!

Kind of reminds me of a little aquarium I used to own. I wonder if you can put a little fishy in there and stick a hose on the sipper and make it bubble. Maybe it'll suck in fish poo. No wait. The optional $10 bottom filter does that.

Brita definitely had this type of product a few years ago. I had one when I was younger, and was very happy with the product, yet now I can't find them anywhere. This is a great idea but it has been made before.

I own this product and think that it is awesome. I cannot praise it enough. I drink roughly 3-5 bottles of water a day. This bottle basically paid for itself within a week. The Water Bobble is $9.95 US the only downside is shipping (something like $9) but I thought it was worth it. The filter works great. Now I have great tasting water anywhere and can refill at anytime. I highly recommend this product. You can buy one at http://www.waterbobble.com and rumor has it the Water Bobble will be coming to retail stores like JCPenney and Bed, Bath, & Beyond in the near future.

I love this product! I also saw the 321 Water Bottle, but it seems to be much more expensive (base product and filters). Plus I love the organic shape and design of the Bobble a lot more! The different colored filters are a great marketing touch ala iPod nanos

I bought one at GNC this past weekend. Love it! I play golf about 2-3 times a week and end up drinkin a lot of water provided by the course management ...now I'm filtering it! Awesome idea!!

I love my bobble and use it regularly, but it makes a wheezing noise every time you drink out of it. While not terribly loud, those touchy about noise may not like it
