Coca-Cola Mystic

French designer Jerome Olivet created this concept, Coca-Cola Mystic.  A glimpse into the future? More info and photos after the jump!

"MYSTIC surprised by its beauty and intensity. It was created to live an intense and fleeting moment. Its racy style describes a supernatural world that soars skyward. Its skin has a sculpted unique spiritual experience.

We discover in the palm of our hand soft and aerodynamic forms. Its living surface is shaped by a force mysterious and transparent. It send us all the energy and excitement of Coca-Cola Its sexy lines and red color give happiness in 3 dimensions.

Both organic shapes intertwine and form a body ambiguous and fascinating. Its loving silhouette, ties into a true popular poetry."

A glimps into the future? Nope. This bottle looks overweight. There's no sexy curve to it all -- that's one of Coke's strongest assets! Their bottles have the same curve ratio as the ideal shape of a woman's body. And you better bet that little statistic has been tested and proven.

Looks like an alien eggplant/squid. What "popular poetry" does the loving silhouette tie into? Sounds like fluffy BS.

Also, I think there is and argument that the shape of this coke bottle actually takes away from the Coke brand experience.

If this bottle didn't have coke stamped all over it, would you think it was a nice refreshing friendly Coke, or a new energy drink? The Coke brand isn't about energy in the extreme sense, it's about energy in the form of happiness.

Is it sustainable?

Coke isn't a race car so I don't see the symbolism of the intake and exit vents. If the designer was trying to conjure feelings of speed and modernism they would have been better off holding this design for Red Bull or any of the other highly-caffeinated drinks.

Now that I look at it again, the bottle looks like a pair of late '90s Nikes meant to appeal to 10 year-olds. Great WOW factor for about 3 weeks.

Looks suspiciously like the pepsi bottle in back to the future 2…

he can't even spell 'visionary' right...

I really like it as a bottle, but not as a Coca Cola bottle. Pepsi, for example, might be willing to package something like this, but if you look at Coke, they are so tied up in a classic "simpler times" image that they even changed their 2 liter bottles so they had a bit of the curve of the smaller glass and plastic bottles. That means that any bottle concept for Coke is an interesting thought experiment (and this one is particularly original), but is not very likely to ever enter into production.

yikes.

In terms of cost, production and natural environment, this looks fine for a reusable product and not for a one-time use. I like it, can be used for Coke or other brands.
This feels to me like "design for the sake of design". I find it totally pointless, even if it were for a special edition, as it was said above by others, this so doesn't look like the Coca-Cola line... and the message the shape conveys is clearly out of line with the brand image.

I would rather see "modern" design as something simpler, without unnecessary lines, curves or shapes, something which is organic and pure in its conception, where everything has become essential within the design.
We're light years from this right here...

Looks great, a bit more curve in the design and it would be perfect. Excellent idea for a once off limited edition bottle - same way they did the coke side of life labels and cans.

Final Fantasy VIII's Ragnarok space shuttle, mass production model. Just put it in the 210 degree Celsius hangar and blow. Looks good for more conventional reuse, too.

I like it as a bottle, but as others have said, not as a COCA-COLA bottle. "Edgy" and "extreme" really isn't their thing.

Reminds me of a Dirt Devil.

the lid reminds me of pepsi. It would be a good product for targeted shops like Selfridges, harrods etc.

With this design we've lost one of the brand worlds greatest structural equities! To add insult to injury, the inner bottle seems to have taken it's inspiration from Perrier!

Nice design, but this is so far off Coke's brand equity — it barely even hints at the iconic contour — that it would never get made.

Great that he has such a handle on his 3D software.... The coke bottle does (did) reflect a womans curves; the designer has clearly taken note that females of late have lost their waist and have no shape. This could possibly be from drinking too much full strength coke.

as a coke collector, i say NO to this bottle.

doesnt have anything that relates to Coca Cola. look at the bottle without the brand, this isnt coke.

no impact whatsoever representing coca cola.

this sucks.and the designer sucks as well.
