Before & After: Derma Nova

-6-10

New York and Denmark based Hello Monday has redesign the branding and packaging for Derma Nova:

"If a human being was a tree…its hair would be the leaves, its skin would be the protective bark on
the trunk, and its inner skin layers would be the tree rings. When a
three gets sick, it fades, the bark gets flaky and the leaves fall off.
The only thing that can protect it is the right care. DermaNova does
not help reinvigorate trees (or Ents for that matter), but it clearly
helps people. To be able to tell this story about trees and humans,
Hello Monday has redesigned the DermaNova packaging."

See the "before" after the jump.

I like this Before & After. Very nice redesign. Clean and to the point. The Before has your typical pharma colour palette, but this redesign connects the consumer to nature. The branding also received a nice treatment. Very nice. ^_^.

Beautiful redesign. The before package looks like it will turn people off because of its "medicinal" feel. The after package is more spa-like and distinguished.

Thanks for the great comments. The Font is Danubia. The new logotype is also made out of Danubia but with some changes.

Wow, this is brilliant. The contrast between the low-key face of the package and the beautiful, full-panel photographic sides is spectacular. Most cosmetics packaging completely squander the side panels with throwaway little text and disclaimers/offers, rather than considering it as a design element that can work with the front panel. EXCELLENT! I wish more American companies would start to figure it out.

This is a very sophisticated and contemporary choice of type. The photography on the side is nice contrast to the clean front. Beautiful work.
