Pot Of

Pot_of_2

biz-R has recently completed a naming, brand direction and packaging project for Clive’s new ‘Potof’ range of fresh organic meals. "Our approach was to challenge packaging design in this market, currently saturated with uninspiring international brands and bland own label products, and through distinct differentiation, to assist Clive’s as they expand and diversify their product range. “We have created a really bold, highly graphic, identity based on symbology, pattern and colour associated with each recipe’s origin. The eye-catching result communicates beautifully, on and off the shelf.”  Blair Thomson  Creative Director/ biz-R"

I like it! Although the Clive's parent brand mark is quite recessive...

I can see a steady trend towards composing sentences on packaging, often using the brand name as part.
I love the graphic patterns of these, but I’m sorry there couldn’t have been some acknowledgment of a consumer's need to see what they’re in for. (Even a small serving photo on the side panel (giving a less abstract indication of the soup contained) would make me more apt to view these packages with an appetite, rather than just aesthetic appreciation.

NOTE FOR: Alex_ The product is meant to be eaten straight from the pot._ The pot shows the content (i.e the meal) straight through to pot itself_ There is around 30% of outer area dedicated to showing the product throughthe pot including the front panel._ There is no need to show an image of what you can already see - for real!_ This gave us the opportunity to break stereotypes and push things graphically_ Sales have been fantastic since its launch

I'm definitely a fan of this packaging - what a nice break from the usual green and brown palette that seems to be the default for organic foods. However, my issue with this is the plastic bowls - I'm imagining these entrees are meant to be eaten hot and I'm hearing more and more advisories about how foods should never be microwaved in plastic containers because of carcinogens that get released into the food at high temperatures. If this concern was not already addressed, I'm afraid it may need to be in the future. I also hope the plastic containers are recyclable, a must for the target audience.
