Before & After: Powerade Zero

Poweradezero_option_compare1

Redesigned by Alex Center, Sr. Designer at Glaceau:

"In the spirits of redesigns, I want to submit a packaging redesign that I recently did for the Coca Cola brand Powerade. They came to our team to give Powerade Option a new look, a new attitude and a new name. Riding the success of Coke Zero and Coke's Zero products we decided to name the product Powerade Zero, remove all the clutter from the previous packaging and give the brand a sleek, moden and clean identity. After seeing the most recent changes to the Pepsi portfolio, I had to send in my design and represent for Coke and for the Glaceau in-house creative team!"

Well said.

"You can see my signature 'stamp' with the blue leather 'dress' and the Union Jack colours. I have created a rare collector's item that those with an eye for design will want to keep."

Individually numbered in a limited edition run of 2,000 bottles. 300 pounds, or roughly $490.00

(rī) 1 whiskey

Designed by Kevin Price of Doe Anderson Ad Agency:

“The traditional rye whiskey category takes on a modern look and feel with the introduction of (rī)1,” said Mara Melamed, Brand Manager, (rī)1. “(rī)1 is a cutting-edge spirit for today’s top tastemakers and cocktail drinkers who are looking to expand their ultra-premium spirits repertoire. (rī)1 brings cocktails to life by celebrating smooth rye flavor notes, and its stylish packaging and simple name showcase a fresh take on a classic spirit.”

(rī)1 is packaged in a distinctive glass bottle with a single label that reinforces the brand’s straightforward feel and modern style. Priced at approximately $46-48 per 750ml bottle (varies by market,) (rī)1 is an exquisite spirit suitable for the most sophisticated lifestyle. Future variants, including (rī)2 and (rī)3, are planned to create a complete product line. For more information, visit www.ri1whiskey.com.

Halvors

Halvors1

Halvors it is a series of high quality traditional fish products from the north of Norway, and was designed by Sandro Kvernmo while at Tank in Norway:

The photos are from a local museum, and they are really grainy and fit the traditional and honest approach. We used a custom Neutraface from House Ind. for the logo and headings and a mix of regular Farnham and Farnham Display Swash for the other stuff.

Its election time! Capn' McCain's & Obama O's Cereal is a limited edition promotional piece by AirBed&Breakfast:

The boxes are highly detailed with fun copy/content on all 6 sides, including a colophon. They were offset printed on a 24pt Carolina CS1 - super high quality. Each one is individually embossed on the top with an individual number / 500. They come sealed with the cereal inside, and are selling quickly.

The illustrations are by Ben Tegel and Brian Romero. Jonathan Mann did the jingle. Caren Alpert completed the photo shoots. Jenn Shreve was in charge of copy. General Printing manned the press. MacFadden & Thorpe assisted with design.

USB (Port) Wine

Usb_frontlabelphoto

New packaging from 6 West Design:

The premise behind this design stemmed from the recent TTB/Cola regulatory changes, protecting Portugal's geographic indication which inhibits any winery who was not "grandfathered" in before this law was passed, from using the term "Port" on their packaging. Our client (Peltier Station Winery) was eager to find a clever way to play off the word "Port" without actually using the word itself. That's how "USB" was born. The imagery screenprinted on the front label shows an old vine built out of binary code that translates as "Peltier Station", and has roots that form the recognized USB computer symbol. The back label leaves it to the viewer to fill in the letters "port" in underlined slots (i.e. im____ant for "important") The back label took three months of TTB/Cola deliberation before they finally approved it - not without telling our Client they had never encountered someone going so far out of their way to prove a point.

Image of the back after the jump.
