PooPoo Bags

Poopoo2

I just saw this posted on NOTCOT and had to share. Designers Nina Dautzenberg and Andrea Gadesmann of Berlin-based JungeSchactel have done the unthinkable. They've managed to take a mundane (and unpleasant) task and make it fashionable and eco-friendly. So get rid of those landfill clogging plastic bags, and pick up a box of these 100% biodegradable, 100% adorable, poo bags. (There's a sentence I never thought I'd write!)

Aside from the cute illustrations, fun color palette, and humorous sayings... the product design is innovative as well. With a built in "scoop" these are certain to make the task at hand a bit more sanitary.

Now I just need a dog.

Domaine de Canton

Hiresbottle

"At the forefront of the Euro-Asian flavor embrace, ginger has emerged as one of the world’s most important ingredients, with U.S. consumption increasing over 250% the past 20 years alone. Cocktails and culinary dishes made with fresh ginger as a key ingredient have gained popularity as consumers continue to seek out exotic and authentic flavors. Up until now, there has been no liqueur brand with a ginger taste profile on the market. Today, Maurice Cooper et Cie announces the U.S. arrival of Domaine de Canton, Indochine Française, the world’s first super-premium ginger liqueur, hand crafted from an infusion of Cognac with rare baby ginger."

"A striking bottle has been created for Domaine de Canton, as unique as the liqueur itself. French elegance and Asian mysticism merge in the form of a classic pagoda shape and rendered in satiny glass. East meets West in packaging that is different from anything else on the market, and yet very approachable."

Beautiful! I love the shape of the bottle. Extremely unique. I am trying to find out who is responsible for the design, if you know, please comment!

UPDATE: The packaging was designed by John Cooper, the founder of Domaine de Canton.

Botticelli

"Fighting to bridge the gap between commodity and luxury, Botticelli enlisted Struck to craft a visual brand and package design that reflects and exceeds the current demand for premium confectionary chocolates. Looking directly to the Italian artist Botticelli for inspiration, we recalled Botticelli’s apprenticeship as a goldsmith to develop a packaging system that mimics the shape of a gold bar. Viewed as a whole, elements of the Botticelli brand—the box, the name, the descriptor “Illuminated Chocolates,” the nods to Renaissance artwork—provide a well-rounded tribute to Botticelli’s legacy."

Hair Rules

I like the simple but effective line extension treatment on Hair Rules, it reminds me a little of Sanna Annuka's work.

HINT WATER: New Flavors

San Francisco

based Hint Water launches new flavors: honeydew-hibiscus, blackberry, hibiscus-vanilla, and watermelon. We see a lot of this ingredient themed imagery in bottle labels these days, but these seem to work really nice.

Studio Spotlight: Turner Duckworth Revisited

Turner Duckworth (previous Studio Spotlight here) has had a fabulous year! They have won over 40 major awards in the past 12 months. Most recently they have won "Agency of the Year" at the FAB Awards, the first time in the history of the event it was awarded to a design firm versus an advertising agency. They also won Best of Show and a FAB award for Brand Identity.

Turner Duckworth's winning work, selected among 3600 entries from 36 countries, was their brand identity for Coca-Cola. Originally planned only for North America, their visual identity system is now to be implemented globally. As the judges noted, “Quite simply the best piece of work this year by far. To do it for such an iconic brand is a fantastic achievement.”

“This win demonstrates the growing influence of design as the serious brand communication tool in the world today,” says David Turner.

“We have always believed in clear communication, beautifully executed work and a touch of wit,” says Bruce Duckworth. “Our achievements this year are thanks to hard work, a great team, great clients... and a bit of fun.”

Turner Duckworth's other achievements this year include:
