Plum Organics

Plum_family_r1_m_1896

Designed by Brand Engine, Plum Organics is a new brand that was built from the ground up. It is a line of frozen organic baby food that can be found in over 300 retailers nationwide. I find the design to be wholesome, approachable, and fresh.

Zipp Infuzions

Zipp

Designed by Parker Williams in 2006, the packaging for Zipp's Fruit Infuzions shows an excellent use of a printed shrink sleeve. They really integrate the shrink packaging medium into the concept of the design, and the quality of the artwork is top notch. Make sure you click on the image to zoom in and see the detail!

He'brew Beer

Picture_11

He'brew Beer was designed by Voicebox Creative of San Francisco. Some interesting details. He'brew is a play on words for 'Hebrew' (the language) and 'Brew' (as in beer). The typeface for the logo is supposed to look like Hebrew characters (even though Hebrew is written from right to left.) A heavy dose of humor permeates the branding of this product, with quirky illustrations and variety names like 'Genesis Ale' and 'Messiah Bold'. A nice idea for Hanukah!

Get Clean

Getclean1

"Shaklee, a wellness company, relaunched their line of environmentally friendly cleaning supplies under a new name: Get Clean brings a friendly and natural approach to everyday cleaning by showing home life and natural elements juxtaposed and working together in surprising ways. The leaflike shape in the logo is reflected in some of the packaging forms, which were carefully selected from stock forms. The packaging system allows consumers to create their own dilutions from the concentrated products, with reusable bottles and a sticker system. This saves on packaging and transportation waste." Vonnegut Dollhouse

Vonnegut_cd

Innovative CD packaging designed by Jeff Harrison of Rethink Communications. This is easily the most creative CD packaging I have seen! He actually built scale models and photographed each panel/scene! Check it out after the jump, it looks like he had a ton of fun on this project! Thanks Jeff!

Interview: Old Navy Packaging

Old_navy_2

We had the chance to chat with Jason Rosenberg, Senior Packaging Designer for Old Navy about his latest packaging that recently hit stores! The rest of the interview after the jump!

What was your involvement with this project?
I was heavily involved in this project from the very start and was tasked to art direct for the ‘mother load’ of Old Navy packaging –our basics for the men’s and boy’s divisions. Products like our tees, underwear, socks, belts, shoes, etc. This meant presenting a new creative design direction as well developing new package design to house the various products in our stores.

What was your timeline?

From the day I was presented with this project: developing new creative and a new packaging architecture, I had a little over 5 months to present creative, land on structure, and materials and keeping costs within budget and make it into Old Navy stores for a Fall 2007 release.

Korbin Kameron

Korbin1

Designed by Jason Schulte of Office, Korbin Kameron "is a boutique wine with modern sensibilities. The simplicity of the packaging sets it apart from more traditional approaches to wine labeling, yet still provides a sense of modern elegance and sophistication for these limited-production vintages. The Korbin Kameron wine identity was created as a modern interpretation of grapevine tendrils. The free-form yet geometric nature of the tendrils is analogous to the art and science aspects of wine making."

Cognac De Luze

Cognac

Very interesting packaging for Cognac De Luze. The bottles are wrapped in a full shrink wrap printed in exotic leather patterns. This is a really striking use of shrink wrap, without looking 'cheap'. (Still, I don't know how these might look/feel in person, so I'm only assuming they look as sharp in real life as they do on-screen.)
