Debbie Millman - Chairman of the Judges, President of AIGA, President of Design at Sterling Brands

As a partner and President of Design at Sterling Brands, Debbie has worked on the redesign of global brands for Pepsi, Gillette, Unilever, Colgate, Kimberly Clark, Nestlé, and Campbell’s. She is the President of the AIGA, a contributor to Print Magazine, and an instructor at the School of Visual Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She is the host of “Design Matters with Debbie Millman”, the first weekly radio talk show about design on the Internet. She is the author of two books, “How to Think Like A Great Graphic Designer,” and “Essential Principles of Graphic Design”.

Marcus Hewitt, Chief Creative Officer, Dragon Rouge

Marcus Hewitt is Chief Creative Officer at Dragon Rouge. He has over 20 years experience as a design leader, building design teams for several of the world’s leading agencies. Prior to Dragon Rouge, he was the chief creative officer and a partner of Sterling Brands. Before Sterling, Marcus worked with Pentagram, and helped establish the Michael Peters Group. Marcus commits time and energy to non-profit groups and believes designers have an essential role to promote responsible design. He is an adjunct professor at FIT and SVA, where he shares his passion for intelligently simple design.

Will Burke, Founder, CEO & Creative Director, Brand Engine

Will draws on more than 15 years of experience in branding--uniquely bridging strategy and design--to solve complex issues with great insight and straightforward solutions. Formerly with Landor Associates, Lister-Butler, and Axion Design. He co-founded Brand Engine with Eric Read in the belief that they could make a positive difference and help others realize their goals by doing what they do best — branding and design. Brand Engine is now a 25-person studio, designing over 100 brands from start-ups to Fortune 100 clients.

Jonathan Ford, Creative Partner & Co-Founder, Pearlfisher

Jonathan leads the overall creative direction of Pearlfisher, and has built up a global reputation for design excellence and effectiveness from the Pearlfisher studios in New York and London. He is fervent about the value that fearless thinking, great ideas and design can bring to brands and in short, believes that great design, sells. Pearlfisher was co-founded by Jonathan in 1992 and is still an independent design company, working with iconic and challenger brands around the world including The Coca Cola Company, Cadbury, Kraft, InverHouse, Jamie Oliver, Green & Black's, Innocent Smoothies, NUDE, Fortnum & Mason and Unilever.

David Turner, Co-Founder & Principle, Turner Duckworth

David Turner is co-founder of and principal of Turner Duckworth – a brand design agency with offices in London and San Francisco. The agency has won hundreds of creative design awards for its iconic design work, including the first ever Grand Prix at Cannes for Design and a Grammy for its work with Metallica. Turner Duckworth has helped revitalize brands such as Coca-Cola, Levi's and Amazon.com as well as working with entrepreneurs to create new brands like popchips, Liz Earle and Opentable.com. In 2009, David Turner and Bruce Duckworth made Creativity Magazine's "Creativity50" list of America's most creative people.

Michael Osborne, President, Michael Osborne Design

Michael Osborne is President and Creative Director of the San Francisco-based graphic design firm, Michael Osborne Design, Inc. The firm's work in brand package design, strategic identity and branding programs, and print collateral systems has been recognized for outstanding design by virtually every design organization and design publication. Michael's work is in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C.

Michael Osborne received his B.A. with honors from Art Center College of Design in 1978. He has been a faculty member at UC Berkeley, and the Academy of Art University since 1991. Michael received his MFA in Graphic Design at the Academy of Art University in 2007 as Valedictorian. He has been a featured lecturer at numerous national conferences, design events and universities. In 2006, Michael was the recipient of the prestigious AIGA Fellow Award.

Louise Fili, Founder, Louise Fili Ltd

Louise Fili Ltd, founded in 1989, specializes in logo, package, restaurant, type, book and book jacket design. A senior designer for Herb Lubalin from 1976-1978, Louise Fili was art director for Pantheon Books from 1978-1989, where she designed over 2000 book jackets. She has received awards from every major design competition, including Gold and Silver medals from the Society of Illustrators and the New York Art Directors Club, the Premio Grafico from the Bologna Book Fair, and three James Beard award nominations. Fili has taught and lectured on design and typography and her work is in the permanenet collection of the Library of Congress, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, and the Biliothéque Nationale. She was the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts design grant to study the work of W.A. Dwiggins and is co-author, with Steven Heller, of Italian Art Deco, Dutch Moderne, British Modern, Deco Type, German Modern, Design Connoisseur, Deco España, Typology and Euro Deco. Fili was recently inducted into the Art Directors Hall of Fame.

Moira Cullen, Senior Director Global Design, The Hershey Company

Moira is responsible for global design at The Hershey Company setting global design standards, building a global design function and strengthening Hershey's internal design culture and external reputation. A design strategist, writer and educator, she has built an evolutionary career directing creative business solutions that honor the essence and heritage of organizations, institutions and brands — creative director for one of Japan's leading fashion specialty retailers; design research manager at Pentagram; marketing director at The Pushpin Group; AIGA's national director of programs; and department chair of Communication Arts at Otis College of Art and Design.

She built and led the corporate design group at Hallmark Cards, Inc., leveraging design as a corporate asset. Most recently, she was Design Director, North America at the Coca-Cola Company where she led development of North America's influential redesign of the Coca-Cola trademark that garnered numerous awards including the premiere Grand Prix for Design at Cannes. Her essays and criticism have been published in leading design publications and anthologies. A past president of AIGA's Los Angeles and Kansas City Chapters and AIGA's Center for Brand Experience, she served on AIGA's national board, and is an AIGA Fellow.

Sam Ciulla, CEO & Executive Creative Director, Ciulla Assoc

Sam Ciulla brings over 30 years of experience as a designer, creative director and brand strategist. He's passionate about great design and the power it can bring to the marketplace. As CEO and Executive Creative Director, Ciulla manages and directs a staff of brand consultants, design and production specialists working in the areas of consumer and corporate branding assignments, involving new product development, brand identity, packaging, structural design and integrated communications. His responsibilities and leadership help guide all strategic and creative efforts at CIULLA ASSOC.

Prior to forming CIULLA ASSOC, Ciulla was a Managing Director and the Chief Creative Officer of LAGA (today known as Brandimage). His extensive career experience includes serving as a designer, creative director and brand strategist for many global Fortune 500 companies such as The Coca-Cola Company, Procter and Gamble, Kraft Foods, General Mills, Motorola, Starbucks, S.C. Johnson, Jim Beam, Gillette, Novartis and many others.

Amy Brusselback, Global Design Director, P&G

Amy leads a design team of diverse disciplines from graphic to industrial, environmental to fashion. Her team is responsible for the worldwide visual identities and product design on such brands as Olay, Venus, Max Factor, Cover Girl, Secret, Camay and Safeguard. Amy comes from a family of artists and craftsmen, however it took her a stint on the account side at a design firm before embracing design as a career. In her 15 years with Procter & Gamble, she has worked on a variety of businesses beyond her current scope including Always, Tampax, Folgers, Jif, and Pringles. Amy piloted the role of Identity Director for P&G, and is best known for creating branding tools to ensure holistic brand application across media. Amy studied psychology at Cornell University and received her graphic design degree from Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland.

Peter Clarke, CEO, Product Ventures

CEO Peter Clarke is a visionary entrepreneur who founded Product Ventures for the research, design and development of manufactured goods. His passion, creativity and dedication to helping shape products and packaging to enhance consumers' lives, have garnered Clarke enormous recognition throughout the industry. He has been honored to create innovative packaging designs for such renowned Fortune 500 companies as Procter and Gamble, Bayer, Nestle, among many others. As a sought-after packaging expert, Peter Clarke has written numerous articles on design trends, is a frequent keynote speaker at leading conferences and serves as a judge on many prestigious awards. He has been profiled extensively in the media including on CBS' "The Early Show", as a regular contributor on Fox Business News and as Fast Company's Expert Design Blogger. Most recently Brandweek Magazine called Peter Clarke, "the packaging design guru".

Sam O'Donahue, Owner/Creative Director, Established

Sam O'Donahue is owner and Creative Director of New York design studio, Established, which specializes in packaging, graphic and identity design for the luxury retail market. Formerly Creative Director at branding agency Desgrippes Gobe, Sam gained his degree in Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins in London and has spent the last 15 years in the world of high-end design with a client list that includes Svedka, Ralph Lauren, Evian, Estee Lauder, Coca Cola, Black Fleece, Bath and Body Works, Banana Republic, MCM and Brooks Brothers. Sam runs his studio with a policy of creating great design, whilst having a lot of fun. Sam lives in New York City with his wife and three little boys.

Renee Whitworth, Strategic Partner, Flood Creative

Renée Whitworth is the strategic partner at Flood Creative. Over the last 15 years she has developed a reputation for providing unique insights that help every facet of design come together with a singular, shared focus. Current and previous clients include Alberto-Culver, Bath & Body Works, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Gillette, Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly Clark, Kraft, Nestle, Pepperidge Farm and Unilever. She is also a mentor for the inaugural class of the SVA Masters in Branding.
